I’m very happy to have been asked by Martin Lersch from Khymos.org to host round #9 of the well established ‘They Go Really Well Together‘ foodblogging event, where you create a recipe that pairs two (or three) ingredients that are not usually seen together. The theory is that if two ingredients have chemical compounds in common, then they should go well together in a recipe. With the blogging event we get to put the theory in practice. Each month a different pair is chosen. The challenge this time is to combine cocoa or dark chocolate and parmesan cheese.
You may look at the two previous round-ups to get a feel for the event:
TGRWT #7 hosted by flavoralchemy caramelized cauliflower and cocoa
TGRWT #8 hosted by Chadzilla white chocolate and caviar
How to participate in TGRWT #9:
Please read and follow the instructions below
1. Prepare a dish that combines cocoa and parmesan. You can either use an existing recipe (if there is any) or come up with your own. You can use whatever ingredients that you like besides these two in your dish.
2. Take a picture of the dish and write an entry in your blog with TGRWT #9 in the title between now and saturday, March 1st, 2008. Readers will be particularily interested in how the flavour pairing worked out, so make an attempt at describing the succession of taste and aroma and whether or not you liked the dish and why
3. A round-up with pictures will be posted here in a few days after the 1st of March. Please send me an email at lamiacucina (at) bluewin (dot) ch with the following details:
– your name
– your blog’s name and your blog’s URL
– the URL of the TGRWT #9 post and a picture for your entry in the round-up
– your hometown/region and country
If you don’t have a blog, email me your name, location, recipe and a brief description of how it worked out and I’ll be glad to include it in the final round-up.
4. Please feel free to promote the event by sticking the logo on your blog.
You don’t believe me, that the combination cocoa/parmesan will fit together ? Read more about flavour pairings and what Martin has to say about the combination of parmesan and cocoa. Have a look in your fridge, I am sure you will find parmesan and chocolate, think about what you could prepare with these ingredients. I am excited to see your results. And don’t forget – let me know how things worked out in the kitchen by the 1st of March.
Great combination for this round, already have some ideas for my entry.
